- In late December of 2010 and early January of 2011, David Horvitz drove the entire California coast from south to north taking photographs of the ocean along the way. At the midway point, as part of the exhibition, As Yet Untitled, at SF Camerawork, during the opening, Zach Houston, with his type-writer, responded to the coastal photos by engaging people to inspire him in creating poems. The following day Horvitz and Houston took a second week to drive north from SF to the border of Oregon, again photographing the seascape and responding with poetry. The result of this expedition is a two book set. Simultaneously straightforward and elliptical, these two poignant meditations consider the 2-dimensional image of the ocean from multiple perspectives. Both volumes are 88 pages, b&w, printed and bound by Publication Studio Berkeley.
