I, Bärbel Kiy, was born in a small general hospital in Schwelm on Saturday, the 27th of May 1961. I have been married to the love of my youth for the past three decades. We have had two sons together. Before I was torn out of the regular flow of life by a debilitating sickness, I was a procurement manager, branch office manager, and personnel officer for a temporary agency. My illness has forced me to completely rearrange my life. That's how I discovered writing as a form of therapy. I live with my family in a mid-sized town near the capital of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
